High compression guys: what spark plus last?

This was a BR8ES with the solid top. The porcelan center came loose from the metal outermost part. Weirdest failure I have seen. I guess I'll carry extras with me

I've had that happen, as well.
Turned out to be deto.

yes they do and its safer to run ngk coppers cause they act like a fuse,A copper plug will fail before a cylinder fries,a plat or irid plug will handle much higher heat and alot more det and something else will let loose first.

I have seen plenty of engines let go on copper plugs. Broken a few from detonation, but never one like Aaron broke today. The ceramic was in one piece moving up and down in the metal body. Detonation will cause much higher cylinder pressures than turbocharging. Platinum and iridum plugs are just designed to last longer between tune-ups of your average car. IMHO they have no business in a performance engine.

Still Fat....
I've run high compressions in a few various motors
I've never had a problem with plugs
currently i use BPR7ES 11, solid tip plugs
I like the hotter plug since i run a heavier oil mix
I like using projected tips plugs

I do not hang the throttle wide open for more then 6 seconds, never had a need to

I also tried a Denso Iridium plug, for got the # off hand, no problem with that, other then it's a super fine tip.

Deto

A friend of mine had this happen just about every tank of fuel. When his motor finally blew and was torn down there were marks on the dome from the piston hitting it. It had almost no static squish clearance.

GASKETS FOR CHAMP BRAP!
Yeah, I would add a little of that in there for sure Aaron.

When I was at 200 lbs on my big bore w/TL with very aggressive curve, I would mix 91 pump with 110 Sunoco 50/50 and never had a problem.
Now that I think about it, Ive never cracked a plug like what you guys are talking about. Now I know what that means.
Thanks for the daily learning lesson!
