Help with some jetting

Ok so my buddy decided to go with the factory b pipe for the 93 sj project with a 760 in it. OK so my question is what is a good base line or starting point to go from for jetting the carbs. He is going to have the stock 38s on there. so let me know what you guys think.

Straight from FP's website:
Main 145
Pilot 120
High and low speed adjusters- 2 turns out from seated
stock N&S
spring- 95gram

These aren't exact they're just a starting point for you to work from. You have a bigger displacement so you might have to go up a few sizes on the jets, but you never know it may work. Here is a guide to help you: http://www.factorypipe.com/t_carbtuning.php
Maybe someone else on here has closer settings.

thanks Ant. That could be a starting point for me. Im sure someone on here has this set and can put me a little closer.

if your not on a tight budget you'll probably be better off with a set of 44's on there, and there are plenty of people running them on their ski's here who can help and love them.

Ant, I believe he said he had stock 38's on there, no? If so, that isn't the correct jetting.

The posted jetting of 140 or so is waaaaaay off.

Those are for single 44 carbs.

Go with the instructions for 96+ - same for limited & mod.

  • Main 135
  • pilot 70 (stock)
  • High speed screw 1 1/2 turns out
  • low speed 1 1/4 turns out
  • Neadle and seat stock (55Psi)
  • spring stock(95g)
This is straight out of factory pipe direction for 701 with 38s but if its a 760 then it will probably be a little different

That cylinder breathes better at higher RPM than the X cylinder that the jetting specs are for. I'd guess you need bigger mains and similar (maybe one bigger) pilots.)

If you have to run dual 38's on a 760 cylinder with mods I would use;

72.5 Pilot Jets
140 Main Jets
95 Gram Spring
1.5 Needle and Seat
1-Turn Low Speed Adjuster
1-Turn High Speed Adjuster

The 38's will not flow enough for a 760 engine.

You can make them run, but expect about a 15-20% loss, compared to the 44's.

75 pilot
145 main
1.5 n/s
95g spring

start 1.25 turns out on both adjustment screws, this will be close if not dead on.

I would have to agree on 38's being potentially too small for a 760 though. A single 46 or 48mm would be better, but dual 44 to dual 48mm would be best. Stock 760's came w/ dual 44's for a reasom IMO.

coll i start wiht yours, because of it being richer. Id rather be on the rich side then on the lean side. Like i already said this before yes bigger carbs are always better but when you have limited amounts of money you are limtied to certain things. Im sure my buddy will end up buyin bigger carbs somewhere down the line. Thanks for the help.
