I took the older SuperJet out today and encountered a strange problem with the lanyard and kill switch.

I push the stop button and nothing . . . the ski still runs.
I pull the lanyard (literally, not figuratively, or at least not this afternoon at the lake) and the same result . . . the ski still runs. It would eventually stop from the low RPM's on the lake but in my garage, it continued until I pulled the plug wires.

Which connection needs to be evaluated, cleaned, replaced?

TIA

Is your black/white connection unplugged? I assume it could be corroded but usually the lanyard and stop start switch dont work only when its unplugged. Is the lanyard post coming down all the way?

when you pull the lanyard, OR push the stop button, it grounds the output of the stator to kill the engine.

if it isnt killing it, then either, the connection is bad ( as mentioned above)

OR, the switch itself is dirty and not making a good connection.

dissassemble it, and it is simple, a plunger, a metal circle, and a spring.

clean them, I usually use a folded piece of sand paper to scrape them, then some carb/brake cleaner to remove the dust.

you can test it easy enough.
disconnect the black/white connector, from the ebox on the carb side.

crank the engine, use some needle nose pliars to reach inside the connectr and touch both metal probes together, this SHOULD kill the engine.

put your meter on the other end of the connector now, and push the red switch, or remove your lanyard, set on resistance, the meter should read 0 ohms, or close to zero.
