help with 99 superjet green starter button not working sometimes

D-Roc

I forgot!
cdi's look fine but can go bad, don't buy a new one until you know your switch is not the problem, or the wires, or the relay or the starter or your grounds!!!

Oh, and be careful when you pull the switch apart. It has tiny springs and metal pieces that will shoot out and are a biotch to find in a messy garage. Cost me an hour last night to find them all.

ok its working now--

i didnt buy anything except dilectric-and silicone spray

i first took apart the start/s switch and noticed on the contacts inside the switch the contacts looked a little grimy a brownish dry look. i took springs out carefully and dilectriced the whole thing and put her back together,

then i reasebled the e box and the did a test start before closing the box and all.

it made a click. i check the fuse and the darn thing was all moist and it came out in 2 parts definetly not making a great connection.

so i jacked the backup in the 06 and sure as heck it did the trick. very sensitive green button and tested it twice and she is in perfect running shape now...

so always check fuses first-still glad i went through it though its 10yrs old.

anyone know why last owner dug out part of the stock cdi- maybe rev limit idno

I'm glad you figured it out. Now if I can figure out mine. JSS set up everything except my start/stop switch which I checked out last night. New Mikuni starter this past season, too. Who knows? I guess I'll figure it out eventually.
