300/440/550 Help with 650sx cooling line

Hi guys,
I bought an 89 650sx, and there is a brass nipple that looks to be a part of the cooling system that has no hose attached to it. it is on the right hand side of the bulkhead (if you are standing on the ski) just above the "scupper" bilge line. When I put the ski in the water the water just flows into the hull.
I am thinking the guy I bought it from was going to redo or replace the hose, so I am asking..............where can i connect a hose to?
Thanks in advance,

Todd in Naples, Florida

Than that was the dump line for the exhaust. It was for the waterline on the back of the exhaust. If it has an aftermarket pipe on it most likely it was eliminated. You can just block it off.

Yes it is the stock pipe water dump line. Block it off and you're good to go. Make sure to zip tie the fuel lines too. In the pic I saw of your ski, there were no hose clamps or zip ties on the fuel lines.

Todd, Do you know what carb is on there? If it is still the stock 28mm then it is killing the other mods on it? You need, at the minimum, a 38mm Keihin stocker from 91 or so and newer or an aftermarket 44mm SBN Mikuni set up or 42mm Keihin.

yes, I think the guy I bought it from said that he had at one time bought a bigger carb but it was giving him trouble and he was not able to tune it correctly.
So he put the stock 28mm back on and went with that.
Looks like I'm going to have to pick up a carb for it. I prefer one that uses less gas, so maybe a 38 would be perfect.

Get a 38 or a 40 Kehin! Those 28's were crap!

You will know if that is the drain line for the exhaust if you look in the pump cavity. That line through the hull doesn't have a place for a hose to go onto it inside the pump cavity like the bilge and cooling through hull lines do.

You can use it for dual cooling in the future. Otherwise I would just cap it of. Ace Hardware sells some of these caps. I believe they call them bolt protectors.

Todd, Keep in mind that the Mikuni carbs will need a new intake manifold. The larger Keihin carbs can use the stock manifold but it does have to be modified.

Todd,
get some spark plugs and dump the old fuel.

That thing was running sick yesterday, we need to fix that.
A bigger carb would really help it get up and go.

Give me a call and I'll bring my tools over.

He just buys it and we are trying to spend money for him on aftermarket parts already. :)
Todd, the stand ups are fun and easy to mod. You don't know what you got yourself into, LOL.

Thanks guys.
Boris,
I went and bought 10 new spark plugs, it fired right up after I put the new plugs into it.
It was taking on water through the unplugged nipple, so once I get that plugged off things will be looking much better. I think those plugs were old and fouled for sure. Lets see if it runs better now. Otherwise I will look around for a lil tuning help or a bigger carb. Lets see if I can balance on the thing after a few trial days.

Todd,
if you want you can take my beach cart and go to jetski beach during the week.
An hour before or after work each day and by the weekend you'll be ripping it up.

Get D-slickers carb you'll be glad you did and knowing him he will hook you up with a solid price.
I am about to convert both of Shawn_NJ's x-2s to the bigger carbs.
