650/X-2 HELP!! no spark! 650sx

I am in the process of rebuilding an 89sx after getting everything back together and trying to start it finally I have good turn over and compression but no spark. I replaced the CDI module but still no spark I have checked the wiring twice but still haven't found the issue and the manual is not giving me any help. I have a sinking feeling that it is the stator... can anyone point me in the right direction to test this or bring up anything simple I may have overlooked?

cut back the wires a bit from the boots

check your wiring again....

make sure you have lanyard on ski..

I don't think that the ski has ever had the lanyard. It is a small pin next to the stop switch?

does anyone know how I can test to see if the lanyard is the issue with out the lanyard? or how I can test the stator for output? still stumped on this with no idea where to go
