Found a bunch of these today and grabbed them thinking they were zip-ties. They don’t function as is so I may be missing a secondary component.

Anyone know what they are for?

They were found on a construction site so I’m assuming they are related?.?.?

They do not appear to have been cut at all but they were laying around the perimeter of a new house being built in my subdivision. I also found 4 on the second story of another house.

The houses are newly framed with only the wrap, windows and some plumbing being installed at this point.

Could it be part of the shipping retainers with the windows? Plumbing perhaps?

We have been walking these new houses for over a year and this is the first time we have ever seen these.

Lol, I joined about 2 hours ago and am ready to burn the site to the ground.

- First pic can upload from your phone, the rest have to be hosted
- you can only respond once every 7 minutes
- so, you have to wait 7 minutes after responding to the first stupid answer before you can respond to the second one, by which time a 3rd, 4th and 5th have chimed in. All telling me that it’s a tie-wrap. To which I clearly stated in the title that it was not.

F@ck me! I have lost over 4 hours of my day to this useless piece of orange plastic!!!!!

Edit: They do have some pretty impressive “Solves” though. I spent a good hour reading through them before I joined.

Uhhhg dont do reddit, ocd.....reddit is not a good place for people like OCD who gets stuff done for a small community. Reddit is about teenagers and never was's to post memes and get upvoted with fake coins and such.

I have know idea wtf that is but I am sorry you had to go through that

lol, it wasn't that bad, I just wasn't in the mood for such slow moving B.S. I only joined for this one thing so if it answers it, great!

The other roadblock I encountered last night was an upload limit on my Tapatalk account. It said I had reached my max amount of free pic upload for the month.
I tried to work around it but eventually gave in and just paid the $29 for a lifetime of Tapatalk VIP service.
Now I can upload as many pics as I want, as big as I want, AND, I don't have to see any more ads...EVER!!!!

I went back tonight and grabbed the other half of the assembly. I thought it would solve the mystery but so far, not so much.

There’s a second part of the ratchet and I am about 99% sure it’s a trigger system off a can of expanding foam.

I looked around and couldn’t find a single can of the foam though, even in the dumpsters.

The only other clue I found was an empty box of Good Stuff Door and Window Sealant but a google search doesn’t show a dispensing system like what I found.
