still having fun learning to ride my 2001 750 sxi pro. Ordered a worx extended ride plate. It seems worx stopped making them? Was thinking I wouldn't need it, but after three weeks of porpusing i want to try something other than body positioning. please help me find a extended ride plate, sponson, tubbie, or what ever that will help me ride flat. I free ride on a calm lake hoping to make the ski carve turns and ride flat.

u sure your not feeling cavitation instead of porposing...?

yea sponsons, not sure if they can bolt into that hull or if riveted...

look into westcoast, see if they have one for your hull

not sure what intake grate? guy i bought ski from said he put it on "to really make it hook up in the chop". i do have the stock one also. what do you mean by cavitation?
google the word

its air/bubbles in pump...sounds like engine revving but not moving in a way

as for porpusing, ride plates help alot but will cause lil drag and slow you down like the intake grate

Look at the intake grate. The make should be marked on it quite visibly.

Sponsons are the way to go without effecting speed much.

I've been riding Kawis for many years, and currently ride a 98 sxi-pro. I have no issue with porpusing. I believe it has alot to do with body positioning and throttle control which you would learn in time through experience. Smoother throttle control with constant body positioning/repositioning (more forward at low and mid speed, but always varies). It will become second nature with experience and confidence.

My ski, I believe has a great set up. It came stock with rear sponsons, I don't know if that makes much of a difference or improvement. But what does make major improvement in handling and carving capability is my Tubbie 2's (front sponsons), I love them, huge improvement and well with the $$. It also has a R&D top loader intake grate and a Works Extended ride plate which proved good improvement in handling. Also, pump has a Scat Trak 9-17 big hub, short pump cone, and bored nozzle.

Hope this helps.

I have come to the conclusion that I first need to get more hours on my ski and then slowly move into handling mods so i have a better feel for what the handling mods are doing for me. I am going to play with weight distribution and throttle control, and then put on a worx extended ride plate.

Ride it for a year before upgrading any parts, IMO. Then you'll have a good feel of your ski and know how best to improve it.

I had same problem w/ my 92 750sx, got a worx extended d cut ride plate, it helps me achieve higher speeds before dolphining. It is a pain sometimes but is manageable, what has helped me the most is to track at an angle instead of straight line, and go against the dolphining motion not with it.

The new ride plate will make it ride completely different, i liked the way the stock plate rode especially in sharp turns. What it wont do is make carve any better/worse IMO, carving takes practice.

I would definately look at your prop and make sure its not cavatation before buying sponsons or anything else. Then I would recomend a shorter pole before sponsonse on a pro hull. They are usually a good handling / carving ski.
