Freestyle help? dry or wet pipe?

ok so im building an groupk 850 sxr motor for my sxipro. it will be 850 freestyle port, msd enhancer, tbm flywheel, titamun driveshaft, twin 44sbn, westcoast intake, v-force3 reeds, ported cases, and ada head.

my question is would i get better throttle responce with an factory 750 wet limited pipe or an factory 750 dry pipe with ecwi. i figured i would ask in the sxr fourm because there are more motors built like this and its the sxr port timing and not the 750

I have run them both on my 850 bigbore and the dry pipe is the only way to go, the wet pipe works and it makes smooth power but does not compare the differents in the dry pipe for the bigbore. If you have not sent it off yet I would not recommend Group k, their porting is way to mild and is too expensive for what you get, send it to Art at jetworks and let him do he's magic you will not be dissapointed. I am running the 84.5 bigbore, ported, ADA head with 26 cc domes and 46 blackjacks advent Ing. programed with Art's setup Aluminum flywheel v-force reeds and spacers and I run 2 1/4 exhaust all the way out. ski 029.jpg

i havent sent it out but im going to stick with groupk ther work is perfect. every thing els on the ski is going to be a bit radical i dont miled porting im taking the ski with me on my sail boat im going to the keys/bahamas i live in ct so i want the ski to be piss reliable and on pump gas. thanks you this is exactly want i needed to hear also hos bad is the power band on the ski can it be riden around or is it off on. thats how my ski was with the 771 top end with the 750 high port timing is kind of sux

I run more timing and I dry the pipe out for as much Hit I can get down low for doing freeride stunts, but it is still more than rideable to take off on rides with no problems. The key to how the power is all in how you adjust the water going in the pipe! Group K porting will be really mild and smooth, but not a lot of power compared to others.

I would not run ANY dry pipe if you are looking for reliability... I've seen too many of them crack, blow couplers, and blow lourde mounts. With that setup, I'd mod in an SXR wetpipe.

The pipe in your pic is a 750 dry pipe not the SXR dry pipe. The SXR Dry Pipe makes alot more power, but they crack, if your freeriding then it will crack. THe Wet pipe would be the better choice.

well i keeping bouth i try thrm out and see what works out better also how much of a power diffrence will the groupk vs othor porting be this has to be a pump gas motor its hard to get race fuel on a sail boat lol

That might be true on a SXR dry pipe, but we are talking about 750 pipes on a 850cc motor, There is no comparising the two the dry pipe has the best power. If you want smooth power on a STOCK ski than buy the wet pipe, and as reliability my dry pipe is 8 years old and gets rode every weekend with all kinds of abuse and I don't have a crack one! But saying that some people can break a anvil in a sand box..

I am not sure how either 750 pipe will perform on an 850 with SXR porting...sounds like your putting the wrong pipe on the motor to me...but fastony seems to have 1st hand experience. I guess go with his advice.

ya but the 750 and sxr 800 are almost the same motor and if you get an 750 xi motor it had the same port timing as an sxr so the 750 pipes should work just fine

I have a ported SXR motor in my SXI pro and am running the SXi pro limited pipe. It works great, plenty of power.

If you are worried about reliability, I would definitely stick with the wet pipe. I have also heard of a lot of poeple cracking the dry pipe and if it were me, I wouldn't chance it. You might have a hard time finding some one to tig weld the dry pipe back together in the bahamas...
