help converting a single trailer into a standup double

hmm very good job and great pics,im wondering if this is the same width trailer I have, how wide is it from the inside of each fender? that vxr looks way bigger than a blaster,Im starting to wonder if I have to have the bunks over the fenders now?

I will measure for you when I get home today ( im stuck at work for a while ...'the suck')

I doubt you have to have them over, it ended up NICE and narrow, even more narrow than my tow rig ( 4runner)

its harder to move around with 2 skis on it ( tongue is a BIT heavy) probably 200 lbs or so, about all I can do to lift it and move it around now with both skis.
Ill either move the skis back another inch or 2, or ad a tongue jack to the front.

My gear box is probably 100 lbs of oil, tools, and other CRAP too.

hey mouth, that's awesome how you did that. I've got a single trailer I'll do that to in the next week :) Are you wearing a sweater in that pic?

Mr Master Blaster,

44 inches between the insides of the frame rails.

the frame rails are 3 inch tube, so roughly 50" between the fenders.

hmm thats a pretty big single, mine is 36in between the rails or 3ft,then about 40 inch between the fenders, looks like mine will have to be bunks over fenders

I know the bunks were to close at first and then after they fixed that we notised the tongue needed to be extended. Which SJ did he take out there. It looked like the one he was riding was black in the pics.

Yeah he took the 04 out that day. The 97 had a dead battery so he was stuck taking that out.

here it is this morning blaster.
with 2 superjets, and the front box.
there is room to go closer together, but then I couldnt haul the VXR once a year like I sometimes do.

It was for a polaris 3 seater originally i THINK?
it has a polaris sticker on the side of it.

That looks AWESOME. I really like that trailer a lot. Do you think that would would with a single shorelandr? Better than spending $900.00 on a double trailer!
What a great thread, thanks mouthfulloflake

yeah I like Reed's trailer. im gonna see what those guys can do for me about making just a frame and I'll deal with the bunks.

It kinda depends on what you are going to be towing the rig with.

That dude who built Reeds trailer is all about the axle being waaaaaay far back to add "stability". That is fine if you have a huge f'n truck and a class-3 hitch. I think reed probably has in the range of 500 lbs tongue weight with a ski on the front of his rig. Again...fine for him. Would not work with me. I like (and need) no more than 50 lbs tongue weight.

Doing the conversion yourself is pretty easy. Just ltakes a little bit of the old money wrench. But then you have exacly what you want and yes I could have made the rig work with a blaster and standup.

Now a word about performance. They have the best trailers anywhere. But they are also a huge bunch of dicks. Dont expect to go there and talk about your plans. They told me I was crazy and that what I was planning on doing would not work, the trailer would wreck and I would probably kill someone. They almost would not sell me the parts. 1 year, 5K miles later. No probs.

Hope your blaster purchasing went well.

Ollie,

Hey man I ended up buying that B1. He was able to work on the price some more so I couldn't turn it down. I'm just glad to be back on a blaster again. Thanks again for the advice. You'll have to ride it next time we all go riding. Reed was telling we about a trip you all are making to Sebastian the weekend before the 4th. I think I'm gonna try and make it.

Unfortunately I am having the hardest damn time finding a good used roundnose. I've been looking everywhere. Along with checking boattrader, cycletrader, the paper, here and pwctoday, I've even pretty much called every dealer in central and south florida trying to find one. Would you happen to know of any.

Anyways if I can find a roundnose I think I'm going to go with that put it yourself together Harbor Freight trailer. Looks like a decent small double for a good price.

Cya out there,
dan

I would only use the harbor freight trailer if you are not in salt water.

I am pretty sure salt would eat that thing in no time.

I thought the harbor freight was galvanized. I think it would work great especially if you upgraded the hardware on it to stainless.

yea fly post em up,we need some more build ideas

I'm trying to. When I go to post them it says the pictures are too big and that I need to resize them.

How do I go about resizing them?
