Help changing steering cable on blaster

How do you change the steering cable on a blaster? I obviously know how to disconnect it from the steering sytem and the nozzle. I just don't know how it goes through the hull back near the pump. I see that it goes through a white plastic fitting. Do I need to remove the ride plate and loosen this fitting so the cable can slide out?

usually not if the nut isnt ridiculously tight. it can usually be loosened with a flat screwdriver and a small hammer.
