Trying to put together my 61x/62t engine, following the how to in the faq section and the 62t matched cases fit together fine without a driveshaft in them but when i put the driveshaft in it seems like there is a high spot in the middle as if the center bearings are too thick, if one end of the case is pressed together there is a gap on the other of a hair less then 1/8th inch, what is going on here. the bearings and center divider are all aligned with their locking holes and all surfaces were clean.

sounds like locateing pins in the cases aren't aligned properlywith the holes on the crankshaft. At least 1 pin must be out. You shouldn't have to force it. If you do you'll push the pins in the cases and the flywheel side will pop through. Ask me how I know...
