I've gotta 97 xp. here that will do nothing when I attach the lanyard. No beeps no lights no gauge check no nothings. But I can cross the solenoid and it fires right up and runs fine with still nothing on the dash. I took it in to sea doo stealership thinking maybe the dess just needed reprogrammed and the "tech" hooked up his laptop and couldn't get it to do anything. He just looked at me and shrugged his shoulders. Moron. Anyway, I've heard that half of the computer can go out on these things letting it run but killing the key and dash..... anyone familiar? Thanks in advance guys

Have you checked for blown fuses? Don't just check to see if they look blown either, take a test light or meter and check both sides of each fuse, it has fuses in two locations ,some are under a cover on the MPEM itself and there are some in separate fuse holders in the black electrical box that hods the coil and starter solenoid.If there is no power to the MPEM you cannot hook up the programmer, a bad DESS post, blown fuse, bad connections going into the top of the black electrical box, corroded fuse holdes in the black electrical box, bad ground connections in the black electrical box will all cause the symptoms you are having.

Bad grounds in the electrical box was the problem. Now the dash is on and I'm getting the 2 beeps i need but I'm faced with a new problem. start button does nothing when pressed. When i check the yellow wire at the button for 12v with the test light the starter kicks for a second and stops then the test light just barely lights up to a very dim glow. I traced the wire all the way to the ecu and I'm getting the same dim glow on my test light from the pin on the ecu. I don't have a voltmeter so this test light is my only friend.
