hey,i have a 1993 kawasaki 750sx.THis is the second time its done this. All it does is click when i hit the start button, and i already tested the battery. The first time it happened it was the starter.anyone have any ideas?

them fountains are rough on a starter and relay. drill some holes in the electrical box to let water out and the relay will last much longer.

first thing i would check besides battery voltage, would be cables, especially if you ride in the salt. use small jumper cables and go from the negative side of the batt to a good ground on the motor, if the motor turns over, you found your problem. you can also do this with the positive side too, if your careful. make sure to hook the battery side of the cable up last and make sure its not touching anything else. also to check your relay you can take the orange wire from the relay and touch it to the battery side of the relay, if the motor turns over or you can hear the relay click, the relay is good and your problem is somewhere else.

i just replaced my starter relay for the same reason. Test your buy placing a screwdriver between the posts and if it turns over replace the relay.

So could someone explain to me in details how to test it?

there are two post on the starter relay, power going in from the battery, and power going back out to the starter... if you take a screw driver and put it on both terminal, and the starter spins, then the relay is bad. When you place the screw driver on the two posts, you are essentially bypassing the starter relay.

This have anything to do with it?:bigok:

more than likely......

no, the relay is easy to replace, just make sure you keep the parts in the right order. if you want a diagram go to MSDpowersports.com and download the install MSD ignition for Kawi. the last page or so, there is a pic describing the order of the install. Ignore the part about the ground wire on the relay though.

Dont mess with a used relay. I have replaced two bad relays in a row.

A new one is like (or was) $35 from Kawi.

No reason to drill holes in your elec box. If you have a good, greased o-ring, and tight bolts a kawi elc box is Very watertight.

Also, the relay posts stick out of the e-box on a 750sx, so it's real easy to test.

I do my superjet box the same way, drilled holes for it to drain, in FRESH water, this is much easier than trying to keep it water tight. ( everyone thinks im crazy for doing it, prepare for a bunch of asshats to tell you it wont work)
