Hello all, where is the best place to get bearing for your midshaft housing and pump?

Yep, look in the yellow pages for bearings. $11 will get you a bearing and seals for the midshaft and maybe $15 for the pump, plus they'll probably be better quality than most jetski shops sell. Get double lip seals for all of them too.

OK I got all the stuff out of the midshaft assembly to take this to the industrial supply place near me to try and match up bearings and seals for it. Next question, the rubber seal that seals out the water and surrounds the actual bearing/grease chamber is all crusty and cracked, would they have this seal also? I dont want to put all this effort into rebuilding something that will leak like a sieve. do you think this is a dealer only seal, can I make my own. will 5200 work if I put a ring around the hull and attach the assembly? any ideas?

I think he's talking about the big rubber ring in the actual housing. I don't think you'll be able to buy that separately.

If thats the case then I shouldnt be too concerned about the waterproofness of it, i just figured that if it was replacable or sealable then I should take care of it while the assembly is out. Thanks as always!

i think there may be some confusion going on here regarding the rubber dampner. It serves 2 puposes, 1 as a dampner and 2 as a seal and the above answers only seem to address one of those.

If the seal lip is dried and cracked up then yes you will want to use 5200 to make sure you get a good seal to the bulkhead. If the rest of the damper is dried and cracked up too, you may want to think about a replacement.

the middle portion of the seal seems ok, not cracked at all, but the outside rim where there is a little lip has a pretty good sized chunk missing, I wish I had a camera right now! It looks as if a piece of this outside rim is missing about the size of the circumference of 1/2 of a dime. Not a huge chunk but enough that I figured I need to ask. the actual majority of the body of that rubber piece looks fine. and is perfectly pliable. Just a few small cracks on the very outside edge.
