Have to rebuid motor - need advise

I have an '00 RN with a B pipe and a few simple mods. The crank has locked up, when I move the driveshaft it only spins about an inch- then stops (It's not hydro lock) We are going to open it up tomorrow to find out what happened, but I have to assume its not good. Here comes the question- if things are bad in there and I have to rebuild the motor, what would be some good upgrades. I only ride in the surf and need a motor with smooth power (I don't like compression brake). My budget is not unlimited, but I would like suggestions to build a strong, reliable motor without really high compression. A larger bore cylinder, that would run on pump gas? Any suggestions?

You could get a new cylinder from ADA, or find a group K on the web. This would enable you to get a larger bore than 84mm (thats what the 62t sleeves can go to.. i think). Depending on whether on not you want to do the work yourself, or send it to an engine builder, you could also consider sending it to Chucky at Xscream, and get some team scream power (the best out there).

Thanks for advise

Things were not as bad as I thought. My bendix came apart and the pieces wedged in with the stator, locking up the motor. Thankfully it looks as though I won't need a complete rebuild, but thanks for the info, Mike
