I recently traded my pretty much stock blaster for this 1990 sn. I saw it on craigslist and just offered him to trade. I was not really expecting him to agree to trade since he had it on there for $2500. So we met up the following weekend. When we went to go check it out the superjet would not crank. It had 170 psi on both cylinders, spark, and we poured alittle gas in the cylinders and carbs ,but still nothing. I took a gamble and got it anyway. The guy claimed he built it. He said it was a 650 bored to a 701, but its a 62t. He said it had dual 38s, but it really has novi maxflow 48s. He also said it had a lighten flywheel and racing output shaft, it has a stock flywheel and I never have heard of a racing output shaft. In his craigslist ad it had msd ignition, but when I met him it had stock ignition. His answer to that was it broke last summer so i had to replace it with stock ignition. So after I took it home me and my buddy realized it had intermediate spark so we cleaned up the ebox and one of the male ends was connected to the wrong female we swapped them out. It ran instantly. We put it in the water the next day and it was running on one cylinder unless you hit the primer which then it would run on both cylinders and cut out. We cleaned the carbs and put new fuel pump diaphragms on both carbs. I also ordered a gasket kit because the whole motor was pretty much siliconed together. I also saw the motor mounts were shot . I ordered some couch mounts and installed them to. While we were working on it, we noticed the cases were ported and epoxied. So I finally put it in the water again yesterday runs great and hits hard. Only thing I am still wondering about is who built this ski and whats all done to it? Has anyone seen this sn before?
I didnt pull the head so I still dont even know if its a 701 or 760.
