Hard to get her going...

Since I put new carbs on the ski (powerbombs) i had to do away with primer. Its now a pain to start, as i have to spray stuff into the airfilters to get her going. Is this a normal problem? At the moment i only have one fuel line going into a hole at the bottom of the carb, untill my super wrench drills another hole and taps in a new line at the other end of the carb. Will it start better then? Sorry dont know correct wording for what i have just described.

Cheers Scott

Hey, the words you are looking for are Pulse fittings. I would imagine with a second fitting the carbs will draw more fuel through resulting in easier starting ? ?

No, two pulse fittings won't make it easier. I run a single 48 Powerbomb on one of my engines, and I can confirm it's hard to start even on a dedicated pulse line.

It doesn't have accomodations for a primer, and it does not have a choke.

Usually, I can start it with a few cranks. If it's been sitting for a while I take the FA off and put my hand on the throat while it's cranking.
Instant choke.

Reply hazy, try again.
I am not sure, I know if the pop is set to high you may have to use a primer (Extra gas)to start, Usually if it's to low it will start, but not rev (Correctly/Crisp), and if your on it will start without a primer on the first revolution usually, everytime and you'll never have to use a primer.....unless your carb takes a drink of h20.

I will add that once I get mine started for the day (single 48 Riva), it keeps starting on the first try for the rest of the day.

Here is a solution for you - Get an OEM Yamaha flame arrestor setup, and run it with a Virgin aftermarket adapter setup (the one with the hose adapter thing). You could tap a primer fitting into that.

Or....

Get an OEM VXR/WRIII flame arrestor base (has oil injection fitting on it). Take a Mikuni 44 aftermarket flame arrestor adapter, flip it upside down and bolt it through the FA adapter, then run a hose nipple between the carb and FA base. Then you can run a primer!

The OEM flame arrestor setup for the 44s has a primer fitting on it already I believe... So what he said, but no need to tap, just hook the line up...

I could be wrong though too..
