handpole reinforcement ?'s

im probly goping to shorten my handpole soon and while its apart i want to reinforce it. can you internally reinforce it or does it need to be a wrap?
full length or just at the ends? any diy's out there?

Couple of the Oceanside big air guys use reinforced stockers. PM Serlin, he'd be the one to ask.
From what I've seen, he wraps the top and bottom with multiple layers of glass.

Once your pole is the length you want it, grind the aluminum pieces about 4 in from the fiberglass side. Then wrap where the pole and fiberglass come thogether. Both Mike and I have learned that it helps to put epoxy arround the rivets, and use filler or epoxy to smoth the transition between the alum piece and fiberglass. Smooth it off and it looks like a one piece pole.


This pic is of an older pole that I did. The current one has a bit more glass arround it. I will be doing another pole shortly (mabey this weekend) I will try to take pics for a step by step.
