thanks for the imput, but what about just completely flat bars? without the bend?

There isn't actually any bend in those bars, they are 0 degrees. The bend in the middle is to fit into the steering system on a stock Superjet. Like nokfir said, you'll have to upgrade more to get fully straight bars, as well its a much more costly route.

I'd suggest just getting the bars themselves.

yeah sorry i meant fully straight bars. just saw some rick roy bars that only need a new turn plate. am i reading this correctly on blowsion?

you can modify your stock turnplate for completly straight bars, and buy 48 inches of 7\8th aluminum tubing for cheap and cut them in the middle and have two sets of bars cheaper than you can buy a new set of bars

Anyone ever modify the stock plates for straight bars, then bore the mounting plate out a bit to 1" (25.4mm) to fit Mountain Bike handlebars which are 25.4mm mounting diameter? You can get flat bars for like $15, tempered and anodized, sometimes 7075 aluminum. Seems like a better option than just straight 6061 bar. Also LOTS more options on thicker bars (31.8mm for oversized mounting) and sweep/riser setups.

I'll probably give this a go next week, just not sure how to bore the stock mounting plates, might be kind of tricky to rig it up on a mill. Bolt the clamps down and use a big ass 1" bit I guess?

I don't think so, the "clamping thickness" is 25.4mm/1", but the rest of the bar is 7/8" just like the stock superjet bars.

Check this out, it's a 25.4mm clamp bar, as you can see the thickness reduces after the clamp area. Also, those ODI grips everyone runs are the exact same thing as the MTB ones. One more thing, I'm running a MTB brake lever for my throttle, same thickness as the stock handlebar 7/8".

Yeah I don't think you could, on a squarenose at least. You'd have to cut up the stock plastic/foam chinpad piece then recover it with vinyl in a custom pattern.

I'll order up a handlebar and get that machined on Tuesday, I'll post up if it worked or not. Ski is out of commission due to bad stator anyway.

Just thought of something: On the mtb handlebars the clamping area is usually not very wide, it maybe possible to just bolt up the handle bar to a modified steering plate. The clamping area would fit in between the mounting clamps (which there IS enough depth to accommodate the extra thickness), and it *should* be tapered back to 7/8" where it meets the steering plate clamp.s
