Handhold placement

Customizing my own hood on a 99 SJ. Looking for opinions as to where to place the handholds and how many to have. Seen many different photos of aftermarket hoods and all the different options. Want opinions of what you would do different or different placement. Thanks

This is where I put mine. I made the buckets on the inside of the hood from glass. I don’t really use the single holds closest to the tray. I have to put some holds in Katie’s hood next so I can get mine back.

FREAKIN LOVE that ski. What did you make the buckets out of? How big are they? Really like the back to back handholds.

Any other ideas folks?

One big bucket you can grab the center section and really get a good hold. The buckets were formed with 10 oz. glass over a piece of Tupperware then cut to fit the contour of the inside of the hood then epoxied in. The hand hold section of the hood was also beefed up with a few layers of 10 oz. glass to make it thicker then the holes cut in the hood.

Each hole is roughly 4” long by 1 1/2” wide. I can take measurements if needed.

Would you mind putting up measurements and maybe a little more of a how-to? I'm planning on redoing my sn hood and I think holds would be a good idea while I'm at it. I don't have any glassing experience, so it should be a wild ride. Any tips you have would be great!
