whats the benifit to switching out hand pole springs? I just got a SJ and it doen'st feel like theres much of a spring at all. There isn't a pad or anything under the pole if it slams down on the hood either.

i just put a blowsion pole spring on mine and it literally keeps the pole where i put it at any angle if. its a lot easier on your arms. as for the hood you should have a rubber absorber there that is also a strap for the fire ex. ( if you have a RN). congrats on the choosing a SJ.

ya, I have the black thing that holds the fire ex. not really any pad though.

Mine doen'st feel like the spring does much. How hard is it to swap the springs out? I think I Want to get a better one. I know blowison and umi makes them. any preference??

Blowsion now makes the UMI spring. I think Blowsion might be the only show in town.

Definitely get something to use as a pad. If it feels like you might break something when it drops - then you might break something.

As long as the pole bolt is not frozen (like mine is,) the install should be easy. Supposedly it is a two person job though.

I just put a blowsion spring on my rn aftermarket pole. Now the pole stays up all the way unless my limiting rope is hooked up. Than it stays at about ride height

I'll let you know later this week my opinion of the Blowsion replacement spring.
I bought a used 2000 roundnose recently, and the pole SLAMS down on the hood if I drop it (even with the stock spring). Consensus on the X seems to
be that the stock spring sucks.

My Blowsion spring is supposed to show up UPS on April 26, so I'll post here
how much difference it makes.

Workin too much
I have the Blowsion spring on my '99 RN and it keeps the pole where I put it. I had to tighten the pole bolt down a little bit because it was going all the way up when I first got it on there. Overall I have been very happy with it:biggthumpup:

I think what I understand is blowsion essentially bought the design from UMI. There is only one spring out there, and before there were two names for the same spring.
