Hacked, reinstall, etc info

I'm still reinstalling from scratch, so bear with me on A LOT of things.

So far it looks like they got in through a flaw in the chat system which was widespread in the hacker community this weekend. miketrin pointed it out to me after the first hack, but it was too late by then. Ironically, this morning I got my e-mail notification of a security fix for the chat, about 2 days too late.

IP banning doesn't do much good against anyone that has some knowledge, especially since they won't register a username and are just browsing.

It's just obsessive. I would never pay an employee's salary just to do what he does.

Cuz he wants to try and emulate what we do over here. Everyone knows this is the best place for technical knowledge now.

I know I'm not very technical yet, but Ive learned a hell of a lot of information from this site.

Edit----
I forgot, he doesn't even own a jet ski (from what was mentioned on the board earlier)... so he is just looking for more ppl from the X to ban.

Yes, but we've never done that, and don't plan to. I'd rather the site be open to everyone, plus the registration process is kinda hard for some other languages, so if they just want to browse, that's fine with us.

what about setting that up such that the main General board has to be registered & logged in to view it?

that way others can just browse the whole rest of the site and BG would be kept out in the dark.

Did he ever take you off the frustration mode on PWCT?

why not just leave it the way it is and ignore him........ anything else gives him a big smile inside knowing full well hes getting to u.......... how pathetic would that be to change the entire board (and the vision in which it was originally created) because the guy that originally caused u guys to want off pwctoday is still getting to you............ seriously
