the x2 mounting bracket that bolts to the hood is at an angle. the steering won't mount perpendicular to the hood more like an angle toward you. I didn't like that.
How about a setup like this. The upsides are its cheap as hell, its plastic and aluminum so no corrosion issues,it has an intergal cable holder and its easy to install, the downsides are its plastic and aluminum so it will have some slop in it eventually and it will have to use a Seadoo steering cable. The cables and wiring all route through the center of the steering tube.
Damn do I need to hit the edit button?:buttkick:
Take a look at the way it is set up if nothing else,UMI made a replacement version of that setup,I have a pic here somewhere, you could easily bolt any kind of cable retaining device you wanted to to the aluminum frame, which means you could use the stock cable. The X4 hull was a very popular race boat hull, there should be a bunch of those UMI setups laying around somewhere.
i would use a superjet style streering with a spacer to mount the bars over the bolt.
i dont know where to find the rrp steering setups to show you. it wouldn't work with the 24/7 hood but would work great on the homemade hood and it would be cheap if it fails
an accusteer from an x2 is what we had that day in my garage when we first talked about this.it looked like it would work good
could you somehow mount a SJ steering cable bracket to the inside of the hood? fiberglass it in or rivet it on, make a plate for it to bolt to etc?
