H20x Conversion Steering Question! Calling Tim and Butti

Looks to me as if the Steering system you guys are using would be far more simple then using the Blaster steering I originally planned.

Looks like I would just drill a hole, bolt it in, and hook up my stock steering cable.... the blaster would require all sorts of crap modifications.

I think I saw somewhere that it is actually a 900zxi steering system?

HELP!:Banane19:

Warning: The first stationary steer Square Nose is on its way!... sorry Its a ONE OFF!.... It is the same concept as the H20x, the the hood hinges on the handle pole bracket. Sorry, no pics... this one is a suprise.... Its not gona be perfect, but it will be 100% function.... and under 265lbs

i win

i'm swappin stock blaster bars over to it, haven't done it yet. I used a 92 xps steering and reinforced that crap outta the hood. I've yet to find out a good way to hold the steering cable though. Work in progress.

I used it on the water for like 10 minutes once before the steering cable popped out. It felt nice and easy and had a comfortable feel to it. I'm all excited to try it again now.

hey Idok, post up some steering pics for bronson. you seem to know where to find them.

I don't know if the steering is the same as the 900zxi. I know that chris gave wahoo the machining plans with the last unfinished steering system he had so it wasn't purchased from UMI.

chris made his own steering.mine didnt hold up that well:frown:zxi steering wont work,i looked into it:thumbsdown:

next time i have this ski apart i will be retrofiting a stock system from a gp1300r.its all stainless and very compact(a little heavy)dont tell bronson:shhh:but it will be bulletproof

the blaster steering would be a pain to use because of the lower bushing support.i looked at it also

Just the answers I was looking for!

So the stock steering cable will connect to the 1300r?

And there is no lower buching support crap?

Just drill my hole through the conversion hood, and bolt in the 1300r steering+ attach steering cable.... And thats it?

So I could also probably use a UMI for a 1300r, just alot of dough.

Thanks Butti :bigok:

you will still have to fab a bracket to hold the cable just like 24/7 setup but there is no lower support to fool with

when i do mine i plan to make a bracket that attaches to steering system itself, not the hood like currently.thats where alot of my slop comes from.

im using a stocker oposed to a umi because it is stainless so i can weld my bracketry to it and it has no bearings to corrode

Awsome! I have a welder than can do aluminum, but good point about the bearings. Thanks again... to pwc I go.

Maekawa Engineering uses a stand up cable on their X2 steering setups. But they have this bracket that goes from an X2's hood hinge to sub plate they clamp it to and then it clamps the cable. Let me find pics. Just don't be buying up the UMI X2 market! I still need one for my spare X2.
