gurus only question

i have a js 550. engine is a convert. to a reed vavle with the Goki adaptor mod. uses 650sx reeds.
After ceasing the front piston, didnt have any cooling to the cylinder ! So opened up, and i see the front piston has ports. looks stock, but has the holes in the top, like all the reed valve pistons.

Awaiting arrival is a new gasket kit, reeds, and wiseco 76.5 dual ring reed valve pistons.
got bored and honed a few days ago.

MY QUESTION:

In a previous post a user, ( i forgert and cant find the post anymore ) told me that indeed the pistons purpose WAS for boost porting, as the piston has both ports and drillings. However my machinist said it wasn''t tho isnt 100%.

THE QUESTION- IF THIS WAS MEANT TO RUN AS A BOOST PORTED ENGINE, DO I HAVE TO CONTINUE WITH THIS SET UP OR CAN I JUST RUN THE UNPORTED PISTONS, COOLING THE FRONT CYL.

What will happen to my motor?
thanks for your help,
eventually, i will ride this beast, day 80 working on it ( most annoying is having to wait 2-4 weeks everytime i need a part.

hey man
cheers for posting this. I read and studied this a few times but dont get what your saying or its saying.....
saying if you change the piston ill have to change the tiiming thingy and spark?

Its been clarified btw, its not a goki adaptor. the crannks been cut into, side intake, 550 reeds not 650 and we think that that ported piston is an oldie, with the holes drilled it can function as a reed valve piston.

also, suggesting i should look at the pickup magnites???

so your saying you have a js550 engine, and somebody welded reed cases into the crankcases correct? in order for people to help you, you need a brief idea of what youre talking about and pitchers lol. BUT no, you wont need windowed pistons IF your intake is in the crankcases. the windowed pistons are for pjs vhp 7000 engines, westcoast rc520 reed engines, ext. The windows are only needed because of the rpm at which air is being took in from the CYLINDER.
