300/440/550 gunwale removal

Curious as to if anybody has or knows of prior JS's that have been modded with no gunwales? Kinda diggin the idea of all the foot placement options it would allow. I'd think foam would have to be creatively added back for flotation. But being a lightweight (140lbs.) it'd be neat to be able to actually sit on it to take a break or in the case of a breakdown.
Thoughts on this, Pros? Cons?

Flat deck is a pretty cool option - you can put foot straps in many different locations that way. I've seen a few cool builds with flatdecks. I don't know about being able to sit on it in the water, mine (with gunwales) won't support me in the water at 190lbs.

i am actually getting ready to start a flat deck on my little brothers 440 this week. ive seen a couple builds on pwctoday that have given us some ideas. my little bros ski should be pretty interesting its getting flat decked, shortened, and a 550 swap with fp pipe and some other goodies

I personally like having the sides for leverage and I prefer footholds over straps. I'm widening my tray this winter. I should be able to cut about 1.5 inches off each side and still be able to use footholds. I will gain 3 inches of width, but still have to sides for leverage and footholds.
