Oil is traded just like company stocks, the price of gas has little to do with the cost of the oil.

Maybe one of these days Throttlejunkie will actually stick around to discuss these hot topics he likes to post instead of just trying to drive traffic to his site.

Are we there yet?
What pisses me off more is the way the cutting the gas with 10% ethenol. I have a station near the house that sell 100% gas and have picked up nearly 45+ miles more per tank. And my truck RUNS better! I try like hell now not to run any Ethenol, Period!

In all honesty, I view his posts over here and at PWCt as freaking spam.

Back in July a barrel of oil cost 150 dollars and the price of gas was around four bucks per gallon; now it's down to 34 dollars a barrel and gas is still two bucks per gallon.

Also the Exxon Mobil Corporation reported a world record profit of 45.2 Billion dollars for 2008.

That's $45,200,000,000.00 profit

What the hell are they doing with all the money besides giving the CEO's a big salary increase? :scratchchin:

and the funny thing is the government STILL makes more money off a gallon of gas then the big "evil" oil companies. Weird eh?

The taxes are just a little over that amount for the one oil corporation profits but they're quite a few more oil companies with record profits too.

For the first quarter of 2008, the average state gasoline tax is 28.6 cents per US gallon, plus 18.4 cents per US gallon federal tax making the total 47 cents per gallon.

For diesel, the average state tax is 29.2 cents per US gallon plus an additional 24.4 cents per US gallon federal tax making the total 53.6 cents per gallon.

The United States consumed a total of 144.80 billion gallons of gasoline in 2008 and at 50 cent per gallon that comes out to 72.4 billion dollars.

Also the goverment gives tax deductions so it's not all profit.
