300/440/550 grate/plate setup

Currently I am running a Mariner scoop grate/Jetsport ride plate on my 550. The skegs on the plate help me carve all I want to & the grate picks up better than stock. I am trying to roll soon, but can't seem to get the back end to swing around like I want in surf. I can swing it around easily in flats, enough to pull 180s what not.

I'm considering putting on my brand new Pacific Jet Sports top loader grate/stock ride plate. I think this combo will give me the best hook up in surf & make it easier to swing the ski around. The hesitation I have is that I've heard of the top loaders pulling out the bolt & bolt inserts right out of the hull. I'm just looking for some feedback.

Only 1 week til WaveDaze & I don't want to do something stupid that will keep me from riding.

Use the Top Loader and D cut the stocker nice N ugly like the Thunder Jet one I'm running and Loving. By brother got rid of his Skagged ocean pro and went to stock and loves surfing the ski know and wants to ride more just as I'm selling my ski.
Rock it buddy:headbang:

Yeah brian those skegs on the ride plates are ass in the surf imo. Also keep in mind in the surf when you roll you'll be putting a lot more weight forward and kinda pulling the assend up with your tuck so slipping it free for a roll will feel different than a slide in the flats or a topturn. But I still wouldn't want the skegs or whatever getting in the way. Jena's old superjet had one (oceanpro) and I about killed myself with it. Dunno bout toploaders...

Very good point there. the top loader at least for the 550 will help keep you accelerating smoothy and hooked up as you gun it for the wave you wont mis judge your speed because your ski washes out or doesn't hook up over small ruts in the way.

here in vb, between May 1st & Oct. 15th, we can only ride within 100 yards of shore before 10am (WaveDaze excluded). "Dawn Patrol" We usually hit the ramp around 8am, sometimes earlier. Just imagine, it's 7am where you are & we're already done riding surf for the day :lame:

not always the case though :sneaky:

crappy we have the lifeguards but they leave us alone unless were on the beach. we can usually do double sessions total of 4-5 hr rides but those are KILLER usually i just want to die during the second because im so tired from rippin around during the first when the surf is great.
