SX/SXi/SXi Pro Grate and prop comparison

I might trade out some parts just wondering if its worth it. The grated are a westcoast and a r&d. The westcoast is mine is one any better than the other? The westcoast seems to sit lower, hanging out of the ski so i thought maybe its better for surf but the r&d is clearly more aggressive. I do a mix of lake and beach riding.

My prop is just a regular skat if I remember correctly mine was a 9/17 but I'm going to try to check later. Is there a trick to seeing the pitch while in the pump? Because my brothers prop was in the ski when he got it so he doesn't know the pitch but it clearly a swirl. I prefer as much low end as possible and my motor is stock internals with a factory pipe, novi 44, and an msd coils. Any opinions on what would better suit myth ski/ riding habits?

Most of the time the prop is stamped on one side or the other for what pitch it is, at least all the ones that I have dealt with. Try looking on the opposite side, you might have to take the reduction nozzle off to look or use a flashlight.

Also, one grate isn't really technically better than the other. Good intake grates are the ones with a scoop in them like both shown above. Some like the more aggressive, steeper scoop but some also like being able to let off the gas and not topple over the nose. Its all personal preference on what riding your doing and how you ride. Both of the grates you have are good, but the light silver one (pics aren't left to right) is definitely a little deeper scoop

I loved my R&D scoop grate but it was a twin foil design for the sxi pro. I destroyed it last season and will be changing to a solas grate this year.

I have a skat 9/17 in perfect condition if you need one. It would be perfect for a mild modded motor.

the prop i have is the 9/17 iirc

ok confirmed the skat is a 7/17 the other prop is a solas 13/22 any ideas which suits my setup better

The Westcoast grate is garbage in rough conditions, the Aquavane is better but still not deep enough. You need a modern prop like a 12-18 Concord or Skat 9-17 swirl and a large nozzle for best thrust.

I know there is better stuff out there but now that im building a sj based ski im putting an more money in the kawi and have access to both these setups.

Then use the Aquavane and the low pitched Skat prop.

I'm rollin with a Skat Trak 9-17 and the same R/D intake grate shown above, with the Worx Ext rideplate and like them. Bored nozzle and short cone too. I feel it a good set up.

i am definatly going with the r&d grate but im torn on the prop the swirl is big hub and ive been told it will be better but im also being told on here the 9/17 is better, but i was told to pick up a tbm pump cone and run a bored nozzle withe swirl. the nozzle im putting on now is pjs

I had terrible cavitation issues when using a 9/17 and bored nozzle with a stubby cone. I had to run the stock cone to keep water in the pump. Just my .02
could have something to do with HP though. I completely changed it up this year, hoping for big improvements...
