It would be extremely tough to get the timing exactly right and that will hurt more than going slower and getting it timed right instead.

So....as fast as you can while maintaining proper timing. From personal experience, even 15 mph can be very very tough. I don't see how it's possible going 40-45mph.

Not sure what your wake boat was or type of ballast but I have a new Moomba Moibus Lsv and with full ballast and people on board the best wave is at about 15 and we come in at about 12-15 on the skis. Any faster just hurts but I'm old. Lol I give you credit even if you where going 30 that a hard reapeded hit getting it right. Eye lids rolled back I'm sure

the boats were way off on the weight i was a heavy cabin cruzer the other a light ski boat. they were going 12-15 but i know i was going quick i had to or i kept landing on my head and yes eyes rolled back a few times
