Ok i can work on my dirtbike easily its like it comes natural, but its a different story on my ski i cant work on it for nothing.Am i the only one like this?

It seems like whenever i work on my ski i mess it up.

Is there a trick to working on skis?

not being rude, but it could be because the ski is older, maybe things are just worn out and you working on it is only finding things that will break on a ride if you hadnt worked on it?! so your actually doing your self a favor?? :bananapowerslide:

A hit that i didn't realize till i worked in a shop for a little bit

Always work on the opposite sit of what you doing- you can do it the other way but all the angles are unnatural and you tend to strip bolt heads.

Also always when loosening bolts don't apply constant pressure- yank on it a few times so it gets loose sort of like an impact gun. This helps get out seized bolts due to salt and water.

I think the most important thing - dont do things half ass on a jetski, it will break everytime...When you jump or unhook the prop its like slamming the ski with a sludge hammer.

And beer helps when drilling large holes :trink26:

I have a carpeted garage floor so I take them off the trailer place them on the carpet pour my tool box all over the carpet roll the ski over to the side and just sit down and relax you will be there a while...

I don't drink so I have to do it differently......

:banghead:yeah, really.my 550 has never broken down.have no idea what you're talking about.maybe i should start drinking beer then!

be careful with the mechanic, but dont throw out the notion of working on it yourself! All these frustrations your absorbing is making you learn the engine better

Thanks guys,i guess i am dion myself a favor to taking it to the mechanic.

IMO this should be a last resort. With a manual and patience you should be able to fix just about anything. Just take your time and pay attention to what your doing.

I know that I had my share of difficulties wrenchin' on stuff, weather it was a car/bike/snowmobile or a jetski, its all just a learning experience.
