I always tighten mine with a screwdriver. It seemed to stay in place once I started doing that.

I've been playing with the Contour Roam, huge on/off switch so never wonder "is it on" and the roam is waterproof..also the lens rotates so you can mount the cam sideways, upside down..basically any way you need..still experimenting with the mounting options on the ski itself, as far as other sports/helmet mounts there is tons.
