Other Gopro placement question

Im wanting to place it on the pole looking back towards the rider....how far down the pole should i place it?
just for a visual reference this is what im looking to get...the view he has at the start of the video

I like to put it on the nose of the ski not on the pole. On wide angle it gives you a better veiw of whats going on and the camera angle stays the same. Just wifi it to your phone and use preveiw to set it up.
