GoPro Helmet Chin Mount - How To?

Some guys use one of the mounts and screw it on, but you can use thick zip ties to hold it on the chin. Depends a lot on your helmet. Some chin pieces on helmets come to more of a point, so you would have to mount it to the top of the helmet instead... I did it at work and used the wrist mount case, flipped the camera setting, and zip tied it on. Worked perfectly.

I tried everything to try to get my camera to mount to the chin but it was too pointy and wasn't possible. I didn't want it on top of the helmet for fear it would crush the camera if the helmet was ever needed to serve it's purpose. Instead I mounted it upside down on the visor after putting 3 extra screws in the visor to prevent it from ripping off. If you saw my helmet, you'd think it blocked my vision but it really doesn't. The camera sits right in front of my forehead and if you I up, I can see it but it's not like I can see through the visor anyway.

The chin mount is done by using the wrist mount assy. You just wrap it around the face shield of the helmet. If you have a pointy face shield, you can take a small block of rubber and cut a triangle in it so that the camera has a flat spot to mount.

Bingo, this guys got it right. You have to use the Go Pros with the wrist mount strap to mount them on the chin guard. Simply mount the wrist strap around the chin shield as if it were your wrist. Depending on what helmet you have you will have to make some sort of "base" so that the camera has a flat mounting area, especially if you have a helmet with a pointed chin guard. When making your base, you will also have to make sure that the camera is aimed correctly (so its filming were your looking) and not down at the nose of your ski or up at the sky. I used Hydro turf scraps to make my base.

Hmm...I did not think of that. I used a small piece of wood at first to see how well it worked. Then I just purchased a small rubber block that I was going to use. I may just stack some hydro scraps as well.

Here's some pics, my helmet has a fairly flat front so I really only needed to adjust how the camera was aimed. The turf works for "pointy front" helmets to you just have to do a little more prep work
