Good setup?

Im about 99% sure im gonna buy this ski from Kurtwolff and i was just curious as to how this setup would work. im mostly intersted in learning to freestyle and just have fun but id like to be able to out run my sea do which hits around 48 max

anything cheap i should add when i get the ski or should i just ride it how it is?

I would just run it as is for a while, sounds like a pretty solid setup... maybe add footholds down the line for freestyle, but i would hold off on even doing that.

It might do about 45 -48 it is a 701 right

Yeah, If we are talking a true GPS 48 you might not beat it. Put a pipe on it!

how expensive are pipes? and how hard is instalation?
foot holds are something im considering but im definitly gonna wait.

500-900 for a b pipe. That is the pipe to have.

and your not thinking stand up yet you are still thinking couch pull the trigger and go as fast as you can. You want the low end brap not top speed.

It already has a protec pipe. There is no need to be in a rush to buy a B-pipe.

For freestyle footholds are a must! I would have to say that should be your first mod.

A b pipe isn't going to give you more topend than a protec pipe.

Save the $$$$ for gas during summer, then you can do footholds in the winter!

They're right though - it's not about top speed, this ski is fast enough for me and I've been riding SJ's for about 5 years now. It'll have plenty of top end to scare you if you go WOT, you'll see soon enough

The Protec pipe will give you great top end, and the midrange is good too - the B pipe is more tunable, but also is super hard to get these days at a fair price (ex. 500 minimum for a used one, that may be crusty w/ locked up screws).

I think you'll be happy w/ the setup, the 701 is a solid platform - also I just talked to my buddy who owned it prior to me (he dumped some cash into aftermarket for sure) - he said the carb is a Taper-bored Protec, so that gains some power across the board too!
