650/X-2 Good Deal?

So my mechanic called and said he had a 650sx hull with a blown motor and to come by and check it out.

Here's what I left with:

new-used bars. not quite straight, but straighter than stock.
Ocean Prop quick turn plate
46mm carb (to be swapped out with the 44 on my B1)
PJS exhaust
Ocean Pro Ride Plate
new Blowsion F/A
Ocean Pro head
Miscellaneous gaskets

$275

Make sure to inspect the pump. It would be worth it to me if the hull and pump were excellent. It will take another $1000 to get it going with a good 750.

Pump and hull are in great shape. Not trying to make it as fast as a 750, just trying to wake it up some. She is bone stock at the moment. I figured it was a good deal. Wanted some other opinions. Im not building to sell and make money. I want a back up ski with more oomph than stock.

i just picked one up with a dead hole(it maybe hit 5psi on compression).. appears to be bone stock for 150.. figured i couldn't turn that down... now to decided what to do with it..

more than I would pay. It's not a good deal. It might be a fair deal, but not a good deal. Cheaper than buying each of those parts by themselves. If you have a 650 and want the parts to upgrade, then buy it if the parts are clean. If you do not have a 650 and you are looking for a stand up, I would look for a better hull style. However, if everything is good but the motor, you can drop in a fresh 650 and have a good motor in your boat for about $1000 total investment. However, the 650s are all old, so you are looking at having a nice motor in a so-so hull with performance parts that are getting soft and a bunch of other worn out parts like the start cylinoid, starter, cables, etc. In the end, the only guy who saves money when a worn out ski is bought/sold is the guy who sold it, not the guy who bought it for cheap. It's always cheaper to buy a good complete ski than to buy parts for a broken ski. The only reason to buy that broken ski is to use the parts you do want and break even selling the parts you don't want.

I got a motor out of a TS, needs a top end due to one cyl has lower compression. CDKII carb. check out the ad, video of it running. $175 shipped. I rode this ski before I pulled the engine. I was thinking of useing it personally for an x2 but really I want to work on my SN's.

You can get a good 650 for 300 bucks give or take
I'd do a 750 those are usually 500
I found a 750sx motor with everything for like 350bucks

If that 650 for 175 just needs a hone and rings that's about 70BUCKS
