Does anyone have any ideas for a kind of glue to put the top and bottom halves of the hull back together. It takes like a ton of it so strength and weight are important. I dont want it to split and sink into teh ocean HAHA:banghead:

we used west system epoxy with 404 for the ant's topdeck conversion factory glue is plexus this is one of the only places i know that you can buy it http://www.jamestowndistributors.com
That mess of glue is insane. It peels right off with some heat. Ive got a box full of glue.

uscomposites.com sells the 404.. i have gone through two tubes of it already lol... that stuff is so strong thought!!!
I would use 5200 (if epoxy scares you because of flexibility issues) with access to plexus in the states being expensive to come by. They use the stuff in a number of applications, like tracking fins onto boats. I reckon is flexible enough and certainly durable enough, especially with fiberglass and plastics with the correct surface preperations.

bostik 920 is another choice they use to glue top and bottom hulls together on boats iboats.com carries it
yes it is a two part mix it mixs in the tip i used two tubes you can use 5200 if you like i would not just my 02

how did you guys seperate the two? is it worth it? I've got an SXR freestyle already lightened every possible way other than possibly seperating them. How much weight loss is to be expected?
My weight is going to be about the same. I reinforced the entire bowline from nose to tail though. You can dump about 10 lbs of glue just from inside the rear compartment on an sj. I also ran my bilge pumps to eject out the back. It makes doing things so much easier. I didnt have a scupper or holds in there so when i took it part im putting a one way valve, bilge dump, foot holds, shave rails, and a bunch of other stuff that made it worth it. It isnt hard i made a thread on how to do it.
Have you thought about using fuel proof silicone gasket/sealer....... the surface area of the joint looks quite wide so it would take a huge about of force to tear the silicon apart. It works for fish tanks
