Girdled head or oem?

I have a 1998 SJ ported cylinder, b pipe, dual cooling, dual 44's, and a oem head that is at 165psi. I am either going to cut it to 170-75psi or go with an ADA girdled head. I am in great debate on what to do. My brother says I am wasting my money on the girdled head. I ride on the Mississippi river. The motor has not been run yet since the porting, pipe, carbs and head cut except for on the hose. What do you guys think about the head? I hear people going back and forth.

My cheapness is telling me you should ride it and see what you think before spending another $300+ on a head.

hes not running that high of compression, I would only run a girlded head if I was running over 185psi. But if you are planning on running higher octane fuels it would be good to have interchangable domes, better cooling, and more bling! I like WAB's idea. 'run what you got.'

My cheapness tells me to get the girddle head. Yes it is unlikely to crack your cylinder with a b pipe and pumpgas compression but it has happened. If the cylinder wasn't ported I say go for the stock head but if it cracks your out for the cylinder, the cost of the port job and a girddle head. That adds up to like $800 or more. $300 just seams like a small price to protect your investment.
