I am working on getting the starter out of my friends square nose and man what a pain. I have the bolts out but now I cant seem to figure out how to wiggle it out more than 3 inches or so then it gets to tight. do I need to start taking the stock exhuast off?

For sure there isn't any way to get it out without pulling either the manifold or the mouting bracket.

Never looked w/stock pipe, but w/B-Pipe seems you could remove the first part of the pipe & pull straight out.

You DID remove both wires right?

You can seperate the chamber from the maifold first, then remove the manifold. It might be easier to just pull the motor and remove the bed plate like mentioned before. Getting to the bottom manifold bolts is a bitch and you will have to buy some gaskets. You probably wont be able to reuse the manifolrd gasket. Any way you go it is a PIA so just bite the bullet and pull that motor. Just mark the shims and it should not be too bad.

why dont you tell us what type of ski this is on, if it a yamaha, then you will need to remove the headpipe portion of the exhaust, or drop the bed plate off to get it out.

By the way, looking at the diagram reminds be..if you take the upper pipe off be sure to loosen the clamps (#40) on the inner hose by pulling back the outer rubber tube (#37). You'll tear the inner hose piece if you just try to pull it appart.
