Getting carb screws out

Im having trouble getting the 2 screws on the plate over the jets on stock 38 out. I need to change jets, is there any trick to get these out, i sprayed some wd40 on them. Can i heat them or is there something else that helps get them out i dont want to strip the screws

Set carb on bench,put screwdriver in screw,smack the head of the screwdriver with a hammer while turning.:smile:

Dont be afraid to wail it.

Use a 'real' impact driver - not that expensive and it won't be the last time you'll need it :smile:

then replace them with allen head bolts

I got 3 out and im letting the 4th soak a little longer it doesnt want to move. Wax you have part number for the allen ones?

And if you need some new screws, mcmaster.com has stainless oval head for cheap. Part # 90258A221 I'm not sure of the allen head part #, but they are M4, .7mm pitch, 16mm long

yup... Harrison helped me do it this way at Lanier when mine were stripped and needed to change jets. Thank goodness it worked... just do it carefully.

This type is a little more expensive but works just as good. With much less labor. I havn't striped a screw since I started using it and I turn screws all day long at work.

Or you can drill the head off and replace the screw. That is what I used to do
