genral riding question about bilge pumps

i have a 1990 550sx and it came stock without a bilge pump and is there anything i should know before hitting the water? does the bilge just pump water out if you flip it or...?

If your going to be doing freestyle and don't have a scupper valve you'll need a bilge. Without a bilge pump there is no way for the water to get out of the hull quickly

ok awesome thats what i figured but wasnt sure and just wanted to double check. and is a scupper valve what people who do freestyle use? and is that what allows them to ride under water?

Scupper is a one way valve through the hull which lets water out. I don't like mine it's more of a sinker valve, I've had a few close calls with mine

Home Depot one way works great, but you still need a pump.
