Gas Can Diameter

:reporter: What is the standard or average diameter of those round gas cans most of you guys use to store premix in? I am trying to build a storage rack on my boat to hold either 2 or 4 of those cans.

We can't store the premix on the beach at the Rock-N-Ride so I will be storing a limited amount on-board my boat but I need them secured incase I use the boat for making wake / towing and recovery operations.

If you got pictures of how you guys secure your cans on trailers and stuff that would be helpful but I need measurments. I am in a bind to get this thing build in the next few days.

Local laws forbid this?

Where we are having the Rock-N-Ride is a State Park and falls under the ODNR and Metro-Parks rangers, and in case you have not heard the rangers at the local level are being real pricks this year in an attempt to shut us down. So they are not allowing us to have an event / tent permit which would allow us to have fuel canisters...

Yes in state parks fuel on the beach is prohibited...

So since I will have my shop tow / service boat out there I offered to store some fuel on board so that people don't have to ride all the way back into the launch ramps to fuel up.

I normally use a fuel transfer pump from my onboard tanks todo on the water fueling... I will have to store people's fuel cans onboard. If I have todo any towing or recovery work with the boat, or if I go about making wakes for the riders I don't want the cans rolling all over the boat...

Any measurements or pictures?

thought about going up there - but it's a very long drive from Houston...and I have to get some work done in Crystal Beach in preparation to move our RV from the place where it is now on to our lot. I only have a few weekends to get that done before the new owner takes possession of the lot where we have it parked now.

If it wasn't for rock and ride I would stop in and have them beers that you still owe me from IKE last year! And help you with the move. I was wondering what ever happened to your place that IKE took from you. I was wondering if the Gov't was going to let you rebuild...

When I come back in two weeks maybe I can get in early and meet up with you!

remind me why I owe you beers.

we can rebuild - it might be a while. Our lot looks like a sand dune right now...so I need to grade it, bring in topsoil and sod or seed it.

and put down some concrete for the tires of the RV to set on.

You offered to buy atleast the first round (if my memory serves me) when I was in Houston last fall... :Banane19:for Ike Evacuation... Then it turned north and blew your house over :lightning: and I ran to San Antonio :burnout:

I would so totally help you with all of that if I was not rushing to get back to Cleveland for R-N-R... I'm pretty good with a bobcat and I can do some cement work. Most importantly I work cheap! lol

I can borrow a big bobcat (actually a JCB) and a tractor - I may take you up on that once the R&R is over.

Thats sweet... JCB's are what I am most familiar with. I have done most of my work with a tractor so that is about all we should need if you got a dump or something to bring material in. I can pull the cement but if you want a nice finish or something you will need to find a finisher...

Again I work cheap... feed me, beer me, give me a couch or floor to sleep on, and show where the happening parties are down on the island or Crystal Beach what have you and we will be all good in the hood...

Since you asked nicely. I suppose I can... I did not see your name on the Roll Call for the R-n-R so I was wondering why you were asking? If you are coming I am sure I can fit you in... I am still trying to figure out where to secure the cans and how many I can take... (Safely) PM me or email me and we can talk about it...
