FX-1 FX1 bogging down.

I have a 94 FX1 that is mostly stock with the exception of a few things, SS prop(Solas I think)
r@d intake grater@d, extended ride plate ,A/C aluminum/shortened pole, Milled head,stock exhaust,flame arrestor.

Yesterday, I taped up a couple of the hood vents before i went to the lake to try to keep out water and everything was going fine then a half a tank later it just died on me and wouldnt start back up. It fired up a couple hours later at home after choking off the carb and it blew a ton of smoke. I figured it was loaded up & running rich cuz it could not get any air so I pulled the tape off my breather holes and went out today. Same thing, I burnt about half a tank and it started to bog down and die again. I subbed the ski a ton both days but never took in that much water. I checked the air filter both days and it did have some water on it but just like before wants I choked off the carb it fired up and blew out smoke and ran fine.

I dont know if its a jetting issue or a h20 issue. Also when I head full throttle down a glassy lake with no cavitation happening it will bog down after a couple seconds and basically want to throw me over the bars. One other thing that is driving me absolutely crazy is when ever I sub my ski and pop out of the water and get on the throttle to stay up and ride it out the ski will basically bog down and die and I will have to feather the throttle to fire it back up again.

Any help is highly appreciated!

Probably way to easy or obvious but try the fuel filter...
My buddies SN 650 would do the same thing, start to take off run good and then almost throw him off.

But what you're talking about honestly sounds a little more serious. GL

Cleaned my carb and fuel tank yesterday. Found more water than fuel in my carb and plenty of debri as well. All gaskets and diaphragms looked fine so I put it all back together with out new parts. I fired it up and it ran like crap still so I took it back apart thinking I missed something. I found what looked like more water in the carb and found a torn diaphragm and a torn o ring on the side the fuel filter is on. Dont know how that happened but now I have to order a carb kit.

While I was in there I got the jetting specs. Please let me know where I stand on this jetting. Lean or rich or ride on target.

High speed seemed to be closed which cant be good?? I changed it to 1 turn out
low speed 1 turn out

Pop off pressure was at about 4 psi. The needle valve was in poor condition so I replaced it. Now my current pop pressure is 26 psi.

I was supposed to go ride today and then this happens. Sooo aggravating

In case any one was worried about me and my bogging fx1. I found a crack inside my hood just above my F/A hence my bogging issue.
