FX-1 FX-1 Pump question please!

I have a line on a minty FX-1 with a pipe. My question is, what is the urgency with replacing the pump?
I want this ski simply for more of the low speed lake freeride - wake jumping and slow speed tricks and such. I already have an SXR for fast cranking and banking so I am not interested in big speed. I want plenty of low speed acceleration. Does the FX-1 pump not hook up? What is it's primary problem?
I see a couple of options for replacements, what does it run to get the Bonzai coversion parts? I don't mind the work involved on my end.

I rode mine for years and had a lot of fun with it until I got to ride one with a 144 in it. Stock it still has more low end kick than a Stock SJ or SXR.

I modded my own 144 pump this spring and so far it has worked great.

You need a 144 complete pump (wear ring, stator section and reduction nozzle) and a raider steering or pro tech steering nozzle.

You have to grind down the forward mounting area to get the pump to align and shim the rear mounts (thats what it took to align mine anyway)

You use the FX-1 driveshaft.

There are about another 4 or 5 small details I figured out along the way but like I said 6 months of hard use and still looking good. It pulls hard now and the only other mods are B-pipe and milled head.

The actual problem is that the pump that comes in the FX-1 is only 122mm in diameter and the motor has enough power that it causes that little pump to cavitate like mad if you hit the throttle hard right off the bottom. The pump works better if you ease up to full power, but is just not really sized right for the power of the motor.

The "144 pump" is the standard 144mm diameter pump that is in all other Yamaha standup watercraft. When you put a 144 pump into that nice, light hull of the FX-1 with it's sweet little ol' 701 motor (especially with a B pipe), the boat is a whole new animal.

I ride the stock pump with a solas prop on mine and its ok for lake freeriding, as long as its smooth water. It hates the chop. Ideally, you want to convert the pump as suggested, but thats not to say that its no fun with the stock pump. If you put a pipe in there, you'll also need to raise the rev limit while running the stock pump.

I guess Impros has a new prop for the stock pump on the FX-1. Anyone tried it?
