Fuel turning yellow

Has anyone had this happen to them? I will run the ski for the day and the fuel will be pink like it should be when looked at through the fuel filter. Then a day later when I go to check on the ski the filter will be full of yellow colored fuel. I run klotz ski craft mixed 40:1 in 93 regular gas. I also replaced all the fuel lines with new oem line when I got the ski. And when I dip the tank the fuel is the pink color it should be.

I ran into trouble the other week when I was out of town for a week and went to start the ski up when I got back and it would not start. I asked some fellow riders for some help because I am new to this sport and when we pulled the fuel lines the gas that came out was a nasty brown color almost like it had gone bad but I had filled it up with fresh gas. I chalked this one up to the fact that I had just bought the ski and there was a little bit of residual fuel from the previous owner and maybe the mixing of the two caused reaction. We drained the tank and filled it up with fresh fuel. I am just stumped with what could be going on as I have ran two tanks through it now. Any help would be appreciated. Only thing I can think of is maybe do at the ethanol is having a reaction with the oil but I don't think this could be it.

Could have a check valve leak but use Starbrite fuel treatment. Local fuel turns yellow quickly. Buy some fuel and leave it in the can a few days partiall open vent. It will yellow fast

@Proformance1 See in the cans it's fine. And in the tank when I dip it to pull some out it is fine. It just seams to be when I gets to the lines. How often should I use this treatment? And does it go right in the tank?

I don't think it's a check valve leak because ever time I open the tank there is a hissing sound of pressure releasing.

The way my one way valve is setup is that it lets air into the tank to displace the gas that is being used up so the tank does not suck in. But it will not let air flow out of the tank causing it to hold pressure.

I note in your final sentence you mentioned the "E" word (ethanol). Are you running straight unleaded or an ethanol blend? If you are running the latter that's probably your problem - the ethanol is attacking your fuel system and slowly dissolving it from the inside out.

Ny mostly only has 10% ethanol in all gas blends 87-93. Some places offer 91 non ethanol but its bot common. Sunoco here 93 is partially yellow out of the pump

Many brands of gas contain added dyes. Yellow is a very common color. Some detergent additives are also yellow. I wouldn't worry about the color. Your ski may not have started for a variety of other reasons

image.jpeg image.jpeg Here is some pictures. The ski has only been sitting for a day since it was last started. The second picture was taken right after it was started. The fuel is turning yellow really fast. Is this normal for ethanol fuel?

Thats nothing, i would be concerned if you have a running issue, with rebuilding your carbs if there is brown stuff coming out of the returns, as you mentioned but go ride it. yellow is fine. Welcome to NY.
