Hi all,

My ski is finally ready to start, but it is not giving me any love.

The starter works fine, so it is attempt to start.

I used starting fluid to get it going, but there is no fuel in my line from the tank to the IN on the dual carbs.

My setup is as follows:

Novi 48 mm carbs w/ dual primer.

I have a bulb primer Ted off from the return line.

The fuel intake is Yed off directly from the tank.

The pulse in is Ted off to the tap on the intake manifold.

I need to know how to get the fuel flowing. I glued my primer bulb in yesterday, so I will try to use that, but i doubt it will work since its sucking from the return line which is empty.

well, i tried choking either one of the carbs and could see the fuel make its way up the line. it runs for a few seconds at best, so i think i need to tune the carbs up. will keep you all posted.

ok, no go with the starting fluid. i now know that its a tuning issue. seeing that i bought the ski used, i have no idea of the jet settings or the carb screw settings. not sure where to start, do i need a tach? how can i learn about how the carbs are jetted. i contacted the guy i bought it from, but that was last may so it is only luck that he has that stuff written down.

also, i am not running a fuel filter before the intake to my carbs, could that be an issue? and what about the filter that is in the tank before the reserve pickup, can i clean that or should i just buy a new one?

Your pulse line is T'ed off and you have one pulse line for both carbs?????
If that is what you are saying your probably not getting enough pulse pressure for your carbs you need 2 pulse taps off of your engine. One for each carb.

That there tells me that your not getting enough pulse from the engine with a single pulse line for 2 carbs. When you hold your hand over the top of the carb it can only pull from the fuel circuits.

Hope this helps.
