FS2 fiberglass repair

My FS2 has a spot on the inside of the engine bay that is almost worn through from the fuel tank rubbing. If I flip it on its side I can see light coming through the bottom of the hull. Can I just reinforce it with fiberglass? What's the black stuff that they use on the inside of Rickter hulls, is it just fiberglass or something else?

Your hull is glass. so using glass with Epoxy Resin is fine! The black is just a paint they spray one. I would just strip the paint off then do the patch. Then put a sheet of rubber or turf under the tank!
