Phil,
Skis look great, you did alot of work this winter  .
See you soon to Rip em'

Thanks!!

Hell yeah... I am still tryin to figure out a good date to come down... We are thinking maybe later this summer... August/September... something like that. I've been busy as hell up here... I think I've put footholds and pipes in every ski in our pack of riders. I've got my last SXR in the shop now for footholds. This summer is going to be off the hook bro.

Also want to get up to rochester to rip it up with Dan and Abe.

about the hood liner, to anyone that cares. I layed 2 sheets of cloth together and 1 layer of mat on a FLAT metal table, waxed it good. I made the glass a little bigger then mt carboard template I layed up the glass on the table and let it dry overnight. It made for a very smooth finish on my hoodliner. I simply traced my template onto it and cut it, and then trimmed. I epoxied it in and then glassed the edges. Looks alot cleaner and smoother than they way slutty originally did it, no offense or anything. i just think its cleaner and more sano!

sorry to threadjack! hehe

That's a pretty cool idea... after doing mine, I thought about some different ideas too. I guess it'll have to wait for my next project.

Here she is with the graphics on. In retrospect, I wish I would have done a custom paint job however; being that this was my first paint job ever I wanted to stay simple. Next time I will do something more...

That thing sure looks purdy.

I think the white with blue looks sexy but I'm a deviate.

Could you shed more info on what you did to put the round nose pole on and what you had to modify.
I might be looking into doing that in the not to distant future.

The white and blue always looks elegant.

Thanks Boris. I love the white/blue as well.

I bought a conversion bracket from Legdragger (Pete Jacobs) for like $145. Comes complete with everything you need. However, it also comes with a two bolt set up rather than a pivot bolt and spring. Since I prefer the spring over the two bolt set up, I simply used a RN pivot bolt and UMI spring. That said, I had to weld a chunk of aluminum to the bracket to keep the spring from sliding to the nose side of the bracket when the pole was in the down position.

In order to make the hood work with the conversion bracket (or even a RN bracket) you will need to relocate the hood hooks out from their current location. I was doing my hood mod anyway, so I just filled in the current holes and reinforced the front area. Then I drilled new holes in the correct location.

Hope that helps ya out. Let me know if you have any other questions...

When cutting the RN pole, i decided to take out 2"... so I measured it out, and made my cut with a hack saw just above the bottom aluminum flange that the RN pole mounts to the bracket with. Make sure when measuring that you consider the amount of pole in the flange. Simply cutting at the flange will automatically remove about 1.5" or so. So if you measure up 2" from the flange, you will be removing more like 3.5"... just watch.

After cutting, I drilled out the rivits and ripped out the cut section of fiberglass and foam from the flange - between the pole and the foam in the pole, there are a few matal backer plates that are used to secure the rivits - be sure to remove these as you will need them again. Clean up the old epoxy in the flange, then insert the backet plates so they line up with the rivit holes in the flange, put some epoxy in the flange (along the sides), then insert the now cut pole back in. It will take some muscle to fit the pole back into the flange... I used a rubber mallet on the flange. Then I put new SS rivits back in and ran a little more epoxy from the bottom.

done...

Thank you Frosty.

I have added this thread into my subscribed list and as soon as I can score a RN pole for a good price I will do just what you said.

P.S. Did I mention that your ski sure looks purdy ?

Thanks Boris.

I just finished making some home made hood straps from an old, beat slippery pull over PFD I had hanging around... worked great. Also made a limiting rope... Can't remember who's thread I read to make both of them, but after reading about it... well, great idea.

well, i finally got around to finishing this beast... here she is complete. I am having a hard time dialing the low speed jets though... she's lacking bottom end... sluggish start, then a few seconds and she rips like a MoFo... I'll have to keep working on her.
