300/440/550 freestyling a 650sx

does anyone know what the lowest weight someone has got on the 650sx .im building a freestyle set up with a yamaha 701 and 650 pump.i have skinned the hood ,having an aluminum pole made and going to do a semi flat deck with footholds.i have removed the fire extinguisher tube and the tool tube.im also going to remove the lip off the front like the B.O.B hull.also doind tubbies.its going to be a slow build for next summer, but done right.

It sounds cool, I've only seen a fixed steer 650 and a flat decked one. Make sure you post alot of pics. But as far as freestyle I don't know. Most avoid the 650 due to the weight and power and handling issues compared to a 750 or a superjet. But since your redoing everything you will have something new and cool.

Buddy of mine has a very light weight 650SX. It's a joy to pick up compared to my pig.

A bare 650 hull is very light weight, once stripped down they get harder to ride. You may want to leave the heavy stock waterbox/mount in place because they can be hard to ride out of a tail stand without weight up front. Another problem area is the pump, it needs a modern prop and deep scoop grate for best low speed thrust.

im building this one for a close to shore ski,9 liter cart tank.i wiegh quite a bit so im tryin to get the wieght of the ski down as much as possible.

i had a 650sx. i loved that ski. it never let me down. had to sell it. i never bothered to upgrade mine much as people told me i would only be polishing a terd. wish i still had it. the side exhaust makes tailstands easy as hell. and it has a nice front to sit on while doing showers. maybe it will have enough pop to do some other stuff after you upgrade it. post pics!

will do but bare with me its going to be a slow build for next summer,as i dont have 5,000 to dump into it tonight.but when done it should hAng and handle as good as a sj and hopfully lighter.well see though.

I never weighed mine but it's considerably lighter than the rest of the ski's we have to pick up to put in the back of everyone's trucks after each ride. I too removed the extuingisher tube. I would ditch the stock waterbox, it's not light by any means and the rubber blocks it sits on are twice as heavy. I put a pjs aluminum waterbox in out of a 550 and loved it, never had any issue riding out of a tailstand. I would love to ride my hull with a yami powerplant, it's shortened 2.5" and has tubbies, but I'm using my 701 to put in a 750 hull. Good luck with your build!
